Full Job Description

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is Australia’s multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and Government.

We currently have an opportunity for a Software Systems Engineer in Canberra, ACT to work on Joint Data Networks (JP9347) Defence projects.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

Supporting the planning and execution of the JP9347 Engineering Program
Contributing to software and systems engineering activities across the full capability lifecycle, from requirements development through to introduction into service
Conducting system and software requirements and specification development
Engaging with industry and internal/external stakeholders within Agile delivery environments (including Sprint Planning and SCRUMs)

What You'll Bring

Bachelor of Engineering (or Engineers Australia recognised equivalent)
AQF Level 6 or higher qualification in software development or software engineering
Experience in systems or software engineering within Defence or complex ICT environments
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and briefing skills

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
