Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

About the Role

The School Administrative Manager is responsible for the efficient management of school financial and administrative systems, as well as supervision and training of school administration officers. Manages the provision of support for school activities and routines, including student welfare and wellbeing, and works with the school principal, the school executive and teaching staff as required.

Essential Requirements

Working with Children Check Clearance
First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.
Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Capacity to supervise staff.
Demonstrated capacity to exercise initiative, organise resources and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to undertake financial and accounting responsibilities including use of computerised financial/administrative systems.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage an office.
Ability to interact with school staff, students and members of the school community.
Knowledge of and commitment to the department’s Aboriginal education policy

Additional Information

Wallacia Public School is a small school located in a rural setting in the town of Wallacia. The school was established in 1897 and today caters for many second and third generation students whose parents and grandparents proudly wore the school colours. There are currently 65 students enrolled at the school of which 10% are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 20% are EAL/D students. There is a strong focus on student wellbeing and the differentiation of curriculum to suit the learning needs of all students.

All members of the school community are welcomed and encouraged to be actively involved with school operations. Our school community is supportive, and we have a very enthusiastic and dedicated P&C, who actively work in partnership with our school. The school and community work closely together in partnership to support our shared goals. We share a highly proactive and trusting environment where student learning is the focus for decision making priorities. The school is an active member of the Nepean Valley Small School's Network. This link with our surrounding small schools provides enhanced opportunities to share knowledge and experiences as a broader network providing capacity building for both students and staff.
