- Genuine growth and career development opportunities
- Work with a talented and collaborative Team based in North Sydney
- Wellbeing days, birthday leave and summer hours (early finish on Fridays)
At
Brand Influence Group (BIG), we’re looking for a curious, ambitious and technically minded
QA & Product Analyst to join our Technology Team.
This is an opportunity to work across internal products used by thousands of people every day, while gaining exposure to
Product Management, Business Analysis, Software Development, Training and Quality Assurance.
This role combines hands-on testing, regression testing, issue investigation, release support and AI-assisted QA. You’ll work closely with developers, support staff, business stakeholders and our Training Manager to test new features, identify edge cases, investigate user-reported issues, support release communication and help us release with greater confidence.
Our main platform is built on
Ruby on Rails, so experience with
Ruby, RSpec, SQL or test automation would be highly regarded.
This is not a traditional “test at the end” QA role. We’re looking for someone who can help us shift quality earlier in the development process through better requirements review, clearer test planning, stronger regression coverage and practical use of AI tools.
What You’ll Do:
- Create and execute test plans for new features, bug fixes and system changes
- Perform manual, exploratory, regression, smoke and release testing across web and iOS platforms
- Review requirements and Jira tickets early to identify gaps, risks, edge cases and unclear acceptance criteria
- Report and track defects clearly, including reproduction steps, expected results, screenshots, affected users and business impact
- Support release validation through pre-release checks, regression testing and post-release verification
- Work with the Training Manager to support release updates, user-facing change notes, training material and communication of system changes
- Investigate user-reported issues using Jira, Zendesk, admin tools, logs, SQL/database queries or developer guidance
- Help translate support issues and business requirements into clear, testable development tasks
- Maintain QA documentation, regression checklists, release checklists, support notes and knowledge base articles
- Use AI tools to assist with test case generation, edge-case discovery, documentation, defect analysis and regression planning
- Work with developers to gradually improve automated test coverage, particularly around repeatable regression scenarios
About You You may currently work in
QA, Product Support, Application Support, Business Systems, Retail Technology, Software Support, Training Support or a similar environment.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Naturally curious and analytical
- Detail-oriented, structured and practical
- Comfortable investigating problems and asking questions
- A strong communicator who can work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Able to understand business workflows, user roles, permissions and business impact
- Confident reviewing requirements and challenging unclear acceptance criteria
- Comfortable helping explain system changes to non-technical users
- Interested in using AI and automation to make QA smarter over time
- Adaptable, low-ego and eager to learn
You don’t just “click through” tickets. You think about workflows, edge cases, user experience, release risk and how issues can be prevented in future.
Skills & ExperienceRequired
- Experience in QA, software testing, application support, product support, training support or a similar role
- Strong manual testing, exploratory testing and defect reporting skills
- Experience working with Jira, Zendesk or similar ticketing/support tools
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to document system changes, testing outcomes or user-facing guidance
- Willingness to learn modern QA, automation and AI-assisted testing practices
Highly Regarded
- Ruby on Rails application experience
- RSpec or Ruby testing experience
- SQL query writing
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Capybara or similar
- API testing experience
- Experience testing iOS or mobile applications
- Experience reviewing logs or investigating production issues
- Experience using AI tools to improve testing, documentation or analysis
- FMCG, retail, field sales, workforce management or operational systems experience
- Experience supporting release notes, training material, user guides or change communication
- Experience in a small software, product, support or internal systems team
Success in the Role Success in this role means:
- Releases are tested more consistently
- Defects are easier for developers to reproduce and resolve
- Regression coverage improves over time
- Jira tickets are reviewed earlier for clarity and testability
- Support issues are turned into clearer development actions
- Release updates and user-facing changes are communicated more clearly with the Training Manager
- AI tools are used practically to improve QA coverage and documentation
- Automated testing improves gradually with support from the development team
