About Victorian Heart Hospital
The Victorian Heart Hospital is the leading unified cross-campus cardiology service of Monash Health located at Dandenong Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Casey Hospital and the newest premier site, Victorian Heart Hospital.
The Victorian Heart Hospital is Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital providing innovative, holistic patient-centred care for all Victorians. The first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and a standalone hospital, housing all on one campus, world-ranking Monash University and the Victorian Heart Institute, it combines world-class clinical care, research, education and training, representing a powerful model of collaboration, innovation and excellence. A multi award winning building, it sets a new international architectural benchmark for cardiac hospital design in a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility with access to landscaped spaces exuding calm and tranquillity, to enhance the patient experience and positively impact clinical outcomes.
This excellent training program will equip fellows in the art and science of structural heart disease interventions. The unit performs >200 transcatheter aortic valve replacements per year, 40 percutaneous mitral valve interventions, 60 percutaneous closure devices and is a leading centre in early-in-human device trials. The applicant will also have continued exposure to coronary interventional procedures including PCI, IVUS, FFR and OCT.
Our program is particularly geared to those looking towards an academic and research career in structural cardiology as we have considerable involvement in clinical trials and investigator lead research. Academic research is an integral component of our interventional program. All fellows are expected to actively undertake research projects and to present at local and international meetings.
