Senior Advisor – Industrial Relations Workplace Standards - Clerk Grade 9/10
- 1 x full time ongoing position and 1x temporary position (up to 6 months)
We stand beside people when they need it most.
At Legal Aid NSW, fairness isn’t just a legal principle, it shapes everything we do - our culture, services, workplace and decisions.
Since 1979, Legal Aid NSW has provided legal advice, support and representation in Criminal, Family and Civil law, helping people across NSW navigate hardship and complex legal issues. Our work is challenging, but deeply meaningful.
In partnerships with LawAccess NSW, Community Legal Centres and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service NSW/ACT, we are located throughout the state with 28 offices across Sydney metropolitan and regional NSW.
The Senior Advisor, Industrial Relations and Workplace Standards provides high quality, ethical advice on complex industrial relations and workplace standards matters. Working closely with leaders and managers, you will support effective consultation, negotiation and dispute resolution with employees, unions and representative groups.
The role focuses on early intervention and fair outcomes, applying human centred and trauma‑informed approaches where possible. You will also coordinate formal complaints and misconduct matters, support legal proceedings, and contribute to continuous improvement of workplace governance and frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing strategic advice on industrial relations, awards, legislation, workplace complaints, performance management and the application of industrial instruments.
You are an experienced industrial relations professional with strong capability in managing complex workforce issues, including disputes, misconduct matters and workplace complaints. You provide clear, ethical and practical advice to managers, and are confident leading consultation, negotiation and resolution processes with employees, unions and representative groups.
You build effective relationships across HR, legal and external stakeholders, and are comfortable representing the organisation in formal forums, including negotiations and tribunal or commission matters. With sound judgement, strong case management skills and a continuous improvement mindset, you contribute to strengthening workplace standards, governance and fair outcomes across the organisation.
You Belong Here
Here, every role has purpose.
Whether you’re delivering frontline legal services or strengthening our organisation from behind the scenes, you’ll help create fairer outcomes for the people across NSW.
We’re building a workplace where every culture, identity, ability and voice are included and valued. We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with visible and invisible disability, culturally diverse communities, and LGBTQI+ communities so you can connect and flourish at every stage of career.
You will be part of a diverse and inclusive organisation, working alongside like-minded and values driven people dedicated to justice, community impact, and delivering exceptional support and service through cross collaboration.
