## Position Overview
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Gasfitter to join our team and contribute to the safe and compliant delivery of gas installation and maintenance services. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gas mains, piping systems, appliances, and associated equipment across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical background, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a broader trades team. This role suits a reliable self-starter who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship in accordance with Australian standards and relevant gas safety legislation.
## Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and test gas appliances, flues, pressure regulating devices, and associated ancillary equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of gas systems and appliances to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Diagnose and repair faults in gas piping systems, meters, regulators, and appliances, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) systems
- Install and modify gas mains and downstream piping infrastructure, ensuring all work meets regulatory and safety requirements
- Conduct leak detection testing and pressure testing on gas installations, taking corrective action where necessary
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, plans, and specifications to execute installations accurately and efficiently
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant Australian Standards, gas safety legislation, and organisational policies
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies in a professional manner, providing clear communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Complete accurate documentation including job records, compliance certificates, and inspection reports
- Identify and report potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or non-compliant installations to the relevant supervisor or authority
- Participate in emergency call-out rosters as required, responding promptly to gas-related incidents and service disruptions
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition, adhering to scheduled inspection and maintenance requirements
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations or equivalent recognised qualification
- Current and valid gasfitting licence appropriate to the relevant state or territory
- Demonstrated experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas systems and appliances across residential, commercial, or industrial environments
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards relating to gas installations (including AS/NZS 5601) and relevant state-based gas safety legislation
- Experience working with both natural gas and LPG systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose faults efficiently and implement effective solutions
- High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering compliant, high-quality workmanship
- Current driver's licence (manual preferred)
- Solid understanding of workplace health and safety obligations and safe work practices
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleagues
## Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations or higher-level trade qualifications
- Additional endorsements such as Type B gasfitting or industrial gasfitting licences
- Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial gas infrastructure projects
- White Card (Construction Induction Training) or equivalent site safety certification
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience using job management software or field-based digital reporting tools
- Prior experience in a supervisory or leading-hand capacity within a gasfitting or broader mechanical services team
