HEADLINE: YOU LOVE WINE. WE LOVE CHAOS. LET’S TALK.

Venue: Love, Tilly Devine – Darlinghurst
Role: Junior Sommelier (Casual, ~25 hrs/week)
Vibe: Curious, considered, uncomplicated. And a little bit feral.

The Scene:

Love, Tilly Devine is not a hotel lobby. It’s not a place where you whisper about trophy Bordeaux. It’s a small, rugged, but big-hearted wine bar where grower Champagne meets a Gilda on a Tuesday night.

We pour weird. We pour wonderful. We pour for regulars who’ve sat on the same stool for a decade and first-daters who ask for “something red and not too serious.”

We need a Junior Sommelier who gets that.

The Swagger You Need:

You don’t need to know everything. You need to be insatiably curious. You need to be able to open a bottle without looking like you’re defusing a bomb. You need to be cool under a Friday night pump, and warm enough to make a guest feel like a genius for ordering that funky Jura.

The Soul: You’ve fallen down the wine rabbit hole and you’re not coming up. You love old-world dirt, grower fizz, and the weird drops from Victoria. You may not have a WSET 3 yet (we can help with that), but you’ve got a stack of wine books and a phone full of bottle shots.
The Chops: You’ve worked a floor. Maybe a wine bar, maybe a bottle shop, maybe you bullied your way into a cellar hand job. You know how to polish a glass until it screams (EDIT: we have a Winterhalter). You know that “decanting” is not just for old men.
The Nerve: You can recommend a bottle to a couple on a date or bottle to a lawyer having a crisis. You won’t freeze when the someone asks you to describe the Trocken Riesling.
The Grit: You’ll stack cases. You’ll scrub the wine fridge. You’ll restock the pinot noir at 11pm with a smile. Because that’s how you earn the right to taste the good stuff.

The Nitty Gritty:

Hours: ~25 hours/week, casual. Thursday–Saturday nights (5pm–late) + no Sunday or Mondays. You want weekends? No. You want wine.
Pay: Above-Award casual rate + super. We pay fairly because you work hard.
Staff perks: Generous discount across Love Tilly Group, staff meal, and a wine allowance that’ll make your flatmate jealous.
Training: Weekly tastings. Producer visits. A Group Beverage manager who actually likes teaching. WSET support if you want it.

You are not for us if:

You think Yellow Tail is a valid recommendation.
You decant a young Beaujolais.
You call yourself a “wine influencer.”

You are perfect if:

You have your RSA and the right to work in Australia.
You’ve got at least 6 months in a bar, restaurant, or bottle shop that gave a damn about wine.
You’re hungry. Not just for dinner – for knowledge, for reps, for the moment a guest says “oh wow, that’s delicious.”
You can lift a magnum of Pet-Nat without breaking a sweat.
