The Role
Darling Range SC an Independent Public School, is seeking an outstanding HPE Teacher who can inspire students to engage in curriculum, strive for excellence and is proactive in improving student outcomes.
The successful applicant will ideally be the coordinator of the elite AFL specialist program at Darling Range SC. This highly successful program which led to two students being taken in the 2025 AFL draft. They should possess excellent interpersonal skills an ability to provide students with the highest quality coaching, curriculum delivery and training programs within the HPE learning area.
Recent experience coaching AFL at an elite youth level and/or within the state or national leagues would be seen as an advantage. A current accreditation at the Silver or Gold (or equivalent) level is desirable but not essential.
The Specialist AFL program is for boys and girls from Years 7 to 12 and attracts students from throughout the metropolitan area. A key component of the role is to promote the program in the local community and to provide a level of pastoral care to support the students through their high school years. An agreed level of FTE is provided for these additional duties.
A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction (EI) across all learning areas. Experience using EI in the classroom is not a prerequisite for this position, but the successful applicant should display a willingness to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and Instructional Strategies (IS) professional workshops would also be highly desirable.
