Position Overview

The Retail Manager at The Hub General Store oversees the store’s daily operations, maintains a high standard of customer service, and supports business performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage staff, optimise operations, and contribute to strategic planning while upholding the store’s strong community and customer-focused values.

The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the customer experience, managing inventory and merchandising, and ensuring the store operates efficiently and profitably. They will also be responsible for leading and developing a team, implementing operational procedures, and aligning store performance with business objectives.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Managing the day-to-day operations of the retail store, ensuring smooth opening and closing procedures, cash handling and overall store presentation.
Determine product mix, stock levels, and service standards to meet customer demand and business objectives.
Manage purchasing, pricing and inventory control, including stock ordering, stock rotation, and minimizing wastage.
Monitor financial performance, including sales, expenses, and profitability and implement cost control measures.
Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue and customer engagement.
Oversee store presentation, merchandising, and layout to maximize sales and maintain brand consistency.
Ensure staff provide a high level of customer service and handle escalated customer complaints and inquiries.
Training new staff members in customer service standards, point-of-sale systems, product knowledge, visual merchandising and store procedures.
Maintain records of stock levels, financial transactions, and operational activities.
Liaise with suppliers and negotiate purchasing arrangements to ensure product quality and cost efficiency.
Analyze sales trends and customer preferences to inform business decisions and improve store performance.
Implement and monitor operational procedures to improve efficiency and maintain consistency in service delivery.
Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, local artisans, brand representatives and customers to support ongoing business growth.
Ensuring the store environment remains visually appealing, clean and aligned with the premium boutique retail image of the business.

Qualifications

Diploma or higher qualification in a related field.
Minimum one year of relevant work experience, demonstrating experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a retail store.
Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff, ensuring high levels of productivity and customer service.
Experience in stock control, purchasing, merchandising, and day-to-day operations.
Strong ability to deliver high-quality service and resolve customer issues.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay: $76,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
