## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and delivery of mechanical systems and plant installations across a range of projects. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical foundation combined with practical experience in engineering design, project coordination, and maintenance management. ## Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical equipment, components, machinery, and plant systems in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements
- Develop detailed engineering specifications and determine appropriate materials, equipment, piping configurations, capacities, and plant layouts to meet project objectives
- Analyse and evaluate mechanical systems to identify opportunities for performance improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced reliability
- Organise and manage project labour, subcontractors, and the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Establish and enforce standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance in line with engineering principles and Australian safety regulations
- Conduct regular inspections of plant and equipment to monitor performance, identify defects, and ensure systems are operating at optimum efficiency
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance schedules, building upkeep, and equipment servicing, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including civil, electrical, and structural engineers to deliver integrated project solutions
- Prepare and review technical documentation, engineering reports, drawings, and calculations to support design and construction activities
- Assess and manage engineering risks, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and work health and safety (WHS) legislation
- Support the commissioning and handover of new plant and systems, ensuring all requirements for new designs and surveys are met
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to communicate project progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain strong professional relationships
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised Australian or equivalent institution
- Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust) or current chartered status highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering design, plant operations, or project delivery within an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or resources environment
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) for the preparation and review of engineering drawings and models
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, codes of practice, and WHS legislation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex technical information and develop practical engineering solutions
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced project environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality engineering outcomes
## Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia
- Postgraduate qualifications in mechanical, process, or project engineering
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools
- Familiarity with HAZOP studies, risk assessments, or other structured hazard identification processes
- Project management certification (e.g. PMP or AIPM) or demonstrated experience managing engineering projects end to end
- Experience working within a resource, mining, oil and gas, or heavy industrial setting
- Knowledge of sustainability principles and their application to mechanical system design
