Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District’s New Street Service is a specialised NSW Health Child Protection initiative supporting young people aged 10–17 who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours. Based at Cumberland Hospital, the service provides a coordinated, community-based treatment model with outreach across Western and Northern Sydney Local Health Districts.
You’ll join a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team committed to evidence-based intervention, collaboration and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families.
Work within a specialist forensic clinical program focused on child protection
Be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering community outreach
Contribute to a statewide network dedicated to prevention and early intervention
Support culturally safe practice, including work with Aboriginal families and communities
Engage with interagency partners including Justice, Education and child protection services
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Clinician, you will play a critical leadership role in delivering specialist therapeutic services and guiding clinical practice within the New Street Service. You will work with complex cases involving children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour, supporting both individuals and their families while strengthening the capability of the wider clinical team.
Provide expert consultation on complex cases, including risk assessment and safety planning
Deliver psychosocial assessments and therapeutic interventions for young people and families
Maintain a clinical caseload while providing leadership, supervision and professional guidance to staff
Support service development through quality improvement initiatives and statewide collaboration
Coordinate intake, referrals and clinical education while contributing to policy and service planning

Essential Criteria:
- Licence: Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence.
- Qualification: Relevant qualification in Bachelor of Social Work which provides eligibility for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers.
Selection Criteria:
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, which provides eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers.
2. Accreditation or willingness to undertake accreditation with the Child Sex Offender Counsellor Accreditation Scheme administered by the NSW Children's Guardian.
3. Demonstrated extensive postgraduate clinical (therapeutic) experience, including demonstrated capacity to work therapeutically with children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour and/or experienced abuse and postgraduate clinical practice in areas of sexual assault, violence and abuse or related.
4. Understanding of the impact of colonisation on Aboriginal people and communities and its relationship to Aboriginal Family Violence. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with Aboriginal communities in culturally responsive ways and commitment to addressing Aboriginal health and community needs.
5. Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework that governs problematic and harmful sexual behaviour, sexual assault and child protection in NSW.
6. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, including a demonstrated high level of negotiation and facilitation skills with a strong family and young person approach.
7. Demonstrated ability to work as a senior member of a therapeutic team.
8. Valid unrestricted driver's licence for use in NSW and willingness to travel in the course of employment, including overnight stays as required.
