Position: Social Worker
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
Location: Sydney, NSW
About the Role
As a Social Worker, you will play a key role in supporting clients and their families by assessing needs, developing support plans, advocating for services, and connecting individuals with appropriate community resources. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between clients and community services, ensuring access to appropriate supports.
- Assess and evaluate available resources including health, housing, welfare, education, recreation, and employment services.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and interviews with individuals and families.
- Develop and implement support plans tailored to client needs.
- Provide advocacy, mediation, and referrals to community and self-help resources.
- Monitor client progress through regular reviews and ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate case notes, records, and reports in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Collaborate with government agencies, community organisations, and service providers.
- Participate in community development projects, research activities, and service improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of social policies and programs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, ethical standards, and organisational policies.
Additional Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, supervise, and support Social Work students undertaking placement within the organisation.
- Act as a field educator and mentor, providing guidance, supervision, and professional development opportunities to students.
- Ensure student placements meet university requirements, professional standards, and organisational expectations.
- Conduct placement reviews, provide feedback, and complete assessment documentation as required by educational institutions.
- Support students to develop practical skills in case management, client engagement, assessment, advocacy, and professional practice.
- Liaise with universities and educational providers regarding student progress, learning objectives, and placement outcomes.
- Promote a positive learning environment that encourages professional growth and adherence to ethical social work practice.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Social Work.
- Current membership or eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Minimum of two (2) years' demonstrated experience in Social Work, case management, community services, disability services, child and family services, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving, assessment, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Sound knowledge of person-centred and trauma-informed practices.
- Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (where applicable).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience working within the NDIS, child and family services, mental health, or community services sectors.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with case management software and electronic record systems.
