Due to continued demand, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter / Retrofit Double Glazing Installer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the Role
You will complete carpentry, timber window modification, retrofit glazing installation, repairs and finishing works across residential and commercial sites.
This site-based role suits a trade-qualified carpenter or joinery professional with strong measurement skills, timber frame knowledge and the ability to deliver neat, accurate and durable work in line with specifications, company procedures and Australian workplace standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, measure and assess existing timber windows, doors, frames, sashes and related structures before installation work commences.
- Read and interpret work orders, site measurements, drawings, specifications and installation requirements accurately.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, modify, assemble and repair timber components associated with window and door retrofit works.
- Remove existing glazing materials, sashes, beads, seals, fittings and damaged or unsuitable components safely and efficiently.
- Prepare timber frames, rebates, sashes and related surfaces for retrofit double glazing installation.
- Install retrofit double glazing units, seals, beads, hardware and associated fittings to achieve secure, weatherproof and visually consistent finishes.
- Carry out carpentry repairs, frame adjustments, sash alignment and finishing work to ensure windows and doors operate correctly after installation.
- Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment and carpentry machinery safely and correctly.
- Apply sealants, trims, beads and finishing materials in line with manufacturer specifications, project requirements and company quality standards.
- Identify installation issues, defects, material concerns or site risks and report them to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling, PPE use, glass handling, working around occupied premises and site hazard controls.
- Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas during and after installation work.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, suppliers and other trades as required.
- Complete basic job records, installation notes, material usage details and quality checks as required by the business.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Carpentry, Certificate III in Joinery or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience after completion of the required qualification.
- Practical experience in carpentry, timber window repair, window installation, joinery, glazing support work or retrofit building works.
- Ability to read measurements, work orders, drawings and technical specifications accurately.
- Strong knowledge of timber materials, fixtures, fittings, fasteners, sealants and carpentry installation methods.
- Understanding of Australian workplace health and safety requirements and safe construction site practices.
- High attention to detail and ability to deliver neat, accurate and durable finishes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team across different project sites.
- Reliable, punctual and able to meet project timeframes and quality expectations.
- Current driver licence is preferred due to site-based work requirements.
