Banyule City Council is seeking a creative and driven Events & Communications Officer to plan and deliver high‑quality business events and lead strategic communications that strengthen and support our local economy.

About the role and what you’ll do:
Working within Council’s Local Economy team, you will curate and deliver a dynamic annual business events program while driving engaging communications and campaigns that support inclusive economic outcomes across Banyule.
You’ll work closely with internal teams, local businesses, traders associations and external partners to deliver flagship events, promote initiatives and use insights and data to continually improve impact.
Key objectives
In this role, you will:
- Plan and deliver an impactful, high‑quality annual business events program, including flagship and smaller networking and learning events.
- Drive strategic communications and campaigns that support economic development outcomes and engage the Banyule business community.
- Build strong internal and external partnerships and use insights, data and feedback to enhance inclusive economic outcomes

About You
You are an organised and creative professional with experience in events, communications or marketing, and a genuine interest in supporting local businesses. You bring:
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering events from concept to evaluation
- Strong written and digital communication skills, including social media and campaign delivery
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects, budgets and deadlines with minimal supervision
- An interest in economic development, small business and inclusive growth
- Tertiary qualifications in events, communications, marketing, business or a related field are required, or equivalent relevant experience.
Pre-employment requirements
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
What we offer:
- A permanent full-time position with a monthly RDO
- Flexible work and leave arrangements
- Salary from $101,202.68 - $110,025.50 per annum plus super (dependent on experience)
- 26 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/4 weeks of paid parental leave - partner
- Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including health and well-being initiatives
