Primary objective
Provide a high level of administrative support and assistance to the Business Support Unit at the Darwin Correctional Centre,
picking up the day to day duties of the vacant roles on an adhoc basis. This position is also responsible for training new
employees in their respective roles throughout the Business Support Unit.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality administrative support and relief arrangements to the Business Support Unit and assist Manager
Rosters and Operational Support with projects as required.
2. Liaise with other administrative staff in relation to up to date processes and procedures in the Business Support Unit.
3. Provide high level of executive support to the General Manager including maintenance of diaries; organisation of
meetings; minute taking; screening telephone calls; manage travel and itineraries including the resolution of conflicting
commitments while providing general office administration.
4. Assist with the provision of advice and support to management and staff on rostering, leave, operational compliance with
the enterprise agreements and performance reporting to achieve agency outcomes.
5. Manage the daily roster including scheduling of staff for medical, court and interstate escorts.
6. Responsible for processing and monitoring shift changes, time in lieu and all leave processing.
7. Responsible for providing relief to the Business Support Unit.
8. Assist with the administration and coordination of staff absenteeism, return-to-work arrangements and workers
compensation matters as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in providing administrative and operational support, with the ability to manage competing
priorities and provide relief across a range of business functions.
2. Proven skills in the effective use of computer operating systems and spreadsheet applications, including myHR, BOXI-
HR, OneStaff, eRecruit and other staff management systems or ability to acquire quickly Demonstrated experience
providing executive support to a senior manager with organisational skills, writing and recording skills with a high degree
of accuracy and attention to detail.
3. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member and build and maintain
collaborative relationships with a range of colleagues and stakeholders.
4. Proven work experience in an environment requiring high level of confidentiality, discretion and accountability to ensure
compliance with the code of Conduct and operational legislation.
5. Adaptable to regular change to provide assistance or relief across the Operational Support and Rosters teams.
Desirable
1. A knowledge of the objectives, structure and legislation of Northern Territory Correctional Services.
