We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our Queensland Chlor Alkali Operations on a fixed-term contract. This role will provide critical support to our Engineering and Maintenance teams, ensuring the continued delivery of key reliability, asset integrity, maintenance and improvement initiatives across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced E&I professional who enjoys balancing technical leadership, reliability improvement, shutdown planning, project support and mentoring within a complex industrial manufacturing environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will provide senior engineering leadership across electrical, instrumentation and control systems, supporting plant reliability, maintenance execution and capital improvement projects.
You will work closely with Operations, Engineering and Maintenance and HSEQ teams, while providing day-to-day support and mentoring to members of the E&I team.
A key focus of the role will be ensuring continuity of engineering support across maintenance, shutdown planning, asset integrity and strategic improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical, instrumentation and control system asset integrity, reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate maintenance shutdown planning, preparation and execution activities.
- Develop and support maintenance strategies, equipment obsolescence plans and critical spares programs.
- Lead and support Management of Change (MOC) activities and E&I improvement projects.
- Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting and engineering support to operations and maintenance teams.
- Mentor and support E&I team members, assisting with technical development, prioritisation and problem-solving.
- Support control system improvements, including WinCC optimisation, alarm management and functional testing activities.
- Contribute to capital planning by developing business cases and CAPEX submissions.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
About You
You are a practical, hands-on Senior E&I Engineer with extensive experience in industrial manufacturing environments and a strong track record in reliability, asset integrity and maintenance improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' engineering experience within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, mineral processing or similar heavy industrial environments.
- Minimum 10 years' experience supporting Asset Integrity Management programs.
- Demonstrated experience in shutdown planning and execution.
- Strong understanding of electrical, instrumentation and control system maintenance and reliability.
- Experience leading MOCs and plant improvement projects.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA and industrial control systems.
- Proven ability to investigate equipment failures and implement long-term solutions.
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor, coach and develop technical personnel.
