Details: The Registry is the backbone of the Supreme and Magistrates Courts' operations, and we are looking for a new member to join the work family.

We have a rare opportunity for a Team Leader (ASO5) - Listings within the Civil Section.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a high volume, high pressure operational environment. You will lead a small team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day court operations.

Key responsibilities include:

leading and coordinating in-court registry support
Managing subpoena and exhibit material
Preparing, processing and quality assuring court orders, awards, defences and other legal documentation
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, court rules and practice directions
Managing workflows, priorities and deadlines in a busy court (registry) environment
Responding to enquiries from legal practitioners, parties and members of the public
Making operational decisions, often under time pressure and with competing priorities

You may also be delegated powers to act as a Deputy Registrar under relevant legislation.

This is a demanding role that requires:

managing strict deadlines that cannot move
Operating in a highly structured legal environment
handling complex procedural work with a high degree of accuracy
Making decisions in real time, sometimes with incomplete information
Dealing with clients who may be stressed, frustrated or under pressure

At the same time, it is a highly rewarding opportunity to develop deep expertise in civil procedure and court operations.

Lead and support a small team effectively

You will also have well developed administrative and digital skills (including MS Office), the ability to learn new systems and court processes and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work under tight timeframes.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

To be eligible for permanent employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACTPS will be terminated.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Criminal History Check.
This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People registration.
This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
Experience working in a court environment is highly desirable.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
