For more than 40 years, our mission to cure childhood cancer has united us. At Children’s Cancer Institute, we accelerate discovery through collaboration, excellence, and purpose-driven research. We are now seeking an exceptional Senior Research Assistant to play a central role in the Cancer Epigenetic Biology & Therapeutics (CEBT) Group.

This is a senior, hands-on role combining high-impact research with leadership in laboratory coordination, compliance, and training. Approximately 50% of the role is focused on research activities and 50% on group coordination and operations.

As our Senior Research Assistant, you will be a key operational leader within the CEBT Group. You will ensure the smooth, compliant, and efficient running of the laboratory while also contributing intellectually and experimentally to cutting-edge cancer research. This role offers significant autonomy, visibility, and opportunities for career development within a world-class research environment.

Key Responsibilities within the role will include:

Ensuring best practice laboratory operations, working closely with the Group Leader and institute-wide committees to support excellence, safety, and sustainability.
Contributing directly to the CEBT research program, demonstrating technical independence while supporting collaborative team efforts.

To succeed you will have:

At minimum, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) or equivalent.
At least 2 years’ experience as a Research Assistant, Program Officer, or Laboratory Manager.
Demonstrated experience writing and managing human, animal, and GMO ethics applications.
Strong organisational skills, scientific judgement, and the ability to balance leadership with hands-on research.
A collaborative mindset and commitment to research excellence.
