Lead requirements engineering on major transit programs, driving traceability, compliance and delivery of critical infrastructure systems.
WHY BAI COMMUNICATIONS
It’s an exciting time to be part of BAI Communications. Building on our achievements in broadcasting, telecommunications and critical communications, we continue to expand our operations, helping connect people and support communities.
We operate one of the world’s most extensive broadcast networks, delivering fully managed television and radio services to 99% of the Australian population. During crises such as natural disasters, national broadcasters depend on BAI to maintain vital communications, while emergency services trust us to keep them connected and informed.
As 5G technology transforms connectivity, BAI is leveraging global experience to enable comprehensive coverage in challenging environments—buildings, tunnels, stadiums, and high-density areas. This expertise positions us at the forefront of intelligent, connected infrastructure development across Australia.
Our acquisition of Titan ICT has strengthened our mission-critical capabilities, adding deep expertise in mining, resources, and energy industries. This expansion enables us to deploy robust solutions across Australia’s most demanding operational environments.

LET’S EXPLORE THE ROLE
As a Systems Engineer (Transit), you’ll play a critical role in delivering systems engineering and requirements management across major rail and infrastructure projects.
You’ll own the requirements lifecycle end-to-end—ensuring traceability, compliance and validation across all design phases—while collaborating closely with internal engineering teams, clients and technical integrators.
This is a 24-month hands-on contract role where you’ll directly influence project outcomes, providing structure, clarity and assurance across complex, safety-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain requirements within IBM DOORS (or equivalent), including SSRS and traceability
- Develop and maintain Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) and compliance reporting
- Manage interface requirements (IRS/ICD), ensuring completeness, structure and alignment
- Support Verification & Validation (V&V) activities and evidence delivery across design phases
- Contribute to Systems Integration and Verification Plans (SIVP)
- Coordinate responses to technical reviews, rework items and stakeholder feedback
- Represent BAI at formal technical reviews, presenting requirements status and compliance
- Manage technical queries, providing guidance and coordinating resolution
- Monitor and implement baseline and change control updates
- Ensure engineering process compliance and continuous improvement
