Workshop Controller
Mercedes-Benz Macgregor | Autosports Group
Mercedes-Benz Macgregor is one of Queensland’s most awarded Mercedes-Benz dealerships and part of Autosports Group — Australia and New Zealand’s leading prestige automotive group. We are looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to join our service team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love keeping a workshop running like clockwork, and understand what it takes to deliver the promise to every customer every day, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
As Workshop Controller at Mercedes-Benz Macgregor, you are the operational engine of our service department — the critical link between the service advisors, the workshop floor, and the customer. Your ability to schedule, load, and manage the workshop with precision directly determines our efficiency numbers, our promise time record, and the experience every customer has when they trust us with their vehicle.
This is a high-accountability role for someone who thrives under pressure, communicates with clarity, and never lets a job fall through the cracks. You will work with some of the most advanced vehicles on the road and be part of a team that holds itself to the Mercedes-Benz standard in everything it does.
Position Scope
- Manage daily workshop loading, job scheduling, and technician allocation to maximise productivity, efficiency, and utilisation
- Maintain accurate available hours in the dealership management system by promptly blocking approved leave, training days, and planned absences
- Update and manage all jobs within Triage in an accurate and timely manner, keeping job status, technician allocation, and estimated completion times current at all times
- Proactively identify vehicles at risk of not being ready on time and bring this to the immediate attention of the service advisor and Service Manager before a promise time is missed
- Monitor Open Repair Orders (OROs) and unapplied time, ensuring both are addressed proactively and within Mercedes-Benz guidelines
- During batch print, review each job card for potential additional service or maintenance sales opportunities, flagging relevant items to the service advisor before work commences
- Identify jobs with a potential warranty liability during the scheduling and batch print process, ensuring these are flagged to the Workshop Foreman and Service Manager prior to commencement
- Coordinate with the parts team to confirm availability for upcoming and in-progress jobs, minimising technician wait time
- Identify rework and poor workmanship issues as they arise, escalating to the Workshop Foreman and Service Manager immediately
- Approve sublets and purchase orders within delegated authority in line with Autosports Group policy
Our Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Workshop Controller or senior service administration role within a franchised automotive dealership
- Strong understanding of workshop operations including flat rate, scheduling, technician allocation, and labour efficiency
- Experience with Triage, Podium, ROBO, and ABSEE or equivalent workshop management platforms
- Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, or equivalent prestige brand experience highly regarded
- Proficiency with dealership management systems — Pentana experience highly regarded
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising quality or accuracy
- A proactive, solutions-focused communicator who connects service, workshop, and parts teams effectively
What You'll Get
- A high-impact role in one of Queensland’s most awarded Mercedes-Benz dealerships — Circle of Excellence five years running
- Competitive remuneration commensurate with your experience
- Mercedes-Benz and Autosports Group training and professional development programs
- Clear career progression pathways within a growing, ASX-listed group
- Paid Parental Leave, discounted private health cover, and free Molinari coffee daily
- Employee Assistance Program, social events, and a genuinely inclusive team environment
- Referral and sign-on bonuses may apply
