About the opportunity
TAFE Gippsland is seeking an experienced and innovative ICT Digital Innovation Lead to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the TAFE Gippsland Digital Hub, a flagship initiative supporting the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence (VRET CoE).
Reporting to the ICT Manager, this senior ICT role will lead the strategic design, implementation and governance of advanced digital training technologies, systems and solutions that will underpin the Digital Hub. You will drive the development of innovative digital learning environments, including virtual and augmented reality technologies, simulation platforms, digital twin capabilities and other emerging technologies that support contemporary renewable energy training.
Working closely with the VRET CoE project team, industry partners, universities, vendors and internal stakeholders, you will lead the digital technology elements of the project from concept and requirements development through to commissioning, operational readiness and continuous improvement.
About the TAFE Gippsland Digital Hub
The TAFE Gippsland Digital Hub is a flagship project that will support the delivery of the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence. Announced in April 2026, the Centre of Excellence is backed by a $50 million investment from the Australian and Victorian Governments and will position Gippsland as a national leader in renewable energy training. A central component of the initiative is the creation of a $15 million Renewable Energy Digital Training and Community Centre at TAFE Gippsland's Morwell campus.
The Digital Hub will include:
- Digitally enabled classrooms and collaborative learning spaces
- A research and innovation laboratory
- Virtual reality and simulation technologies
- Industry-standard training environments
- Community engagement facilities
The Hub will support the development of innovative training products focusedon smart grids, transmission infrastructure, home electrification and other emerging renewable energy technologies.
About you
You are a highly experienced ICT professional with a strong track record of leading digital innovation, technology transformation and enterprise-scale technology projects. You are passionate about emerging technologies and their application in education, training and workforce development.
You have the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical technology solutions and can confidently engage with executive leaders, industry partners, vendors and technical specialists. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you thrive in complex environments and can successfully manage multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and large-scale project outcomes.
Qualifications and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Significant senior-level experience leading ICT strategy, innovation or digital transformation initiatives
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex technology projects and programs from concept through to implementation and operationalisation
- Proven experience managing vendors, external delivery partners and stakeholder relationships across large-scale initiatives
- Experience operating in complex organisational environments, ideally within education, government or other highly regulated sectors
- Experience applying emerging technologies to support learning, training, research or workforce development outcomes will be highly regarded
Key knowledge and skills
- Strong understanding of digital architecture, systems integration and enterprise technology environments
- Knowledge of ICT governance, cyber security, risk management and technology assurance principles
- Ability to translate strategic, operational and educational requirements into innovative technology solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and requirements definition capability
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, including engagement with senior leaders and external partners
- Ability to lead complex initiatives and achieve outcomes through collaboration, negotiation and influence
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complexity and drive continuous improvement
Mandatory requirements
- Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance
- Current Police Check (not older than 12 months old)
- Current Driver’s Licence
