About the team:
We have one of the country's oldest, largest and most experienced infrastructure, construction and engineering practices. With 11 partners and a supporting team of 38 solicitors and paralegals, our construction and engineering team deliver cutting-edge advice on the most complex and challenging projects. We advise major stakeholders in the construction and engineering industries.
Our practice and partners are routinely listed amongst the best in Australia in a number of legal directories, including Chambers Asia Pacific, Best Lawyers in Australia, Doyle's Guide and The Legal 500.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to work in an established construction practice under partner, Brad Kermond.
- Advising clients on construction and project disputes.
- Preparation of claims for expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
- Preparing formal legal opinions.
- Business development and networking activities.
- Contributing to department know-how.
- Mentoring and developing junior staff
- Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements
About you:
- 5+ years' PQE
- Currently be working as a back-end lawyer in a construction or projects team
- Have a strong technical legal ability and a genuine interest in working in the construction and infrastructure sector
- A client-focused approach with a deep understanding of commercial drivers
- The ability to demonstrate exceptional drafting skills
- An independent thinker, comfortable learning new concepts quickly
