Project Management / Detailing – Steel Frames Direct (Deer Park, VIC)

About Us

Steel Frames Direct is a leading manufacturer of light gauge steel (LGS) framing systems, supplying both residential and commercial projects across Victoria. With our in-house engineering, detailing, and fabrication capabilities, we focus on quality, precision, and innovation in every build.

The Role

We’re looking for a Design & Drafting Coordinator with Vertex back ground to join our team at our Deer Park head office.

This role suits someone who can read and interpret plans, understand construction methods, and coordinate designs between engineering, estimating, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings to produce accurate steel framing layouts and models.
Work closely with engineers, estimators, and manufacturing staff to ensure drawings are buildable and compliant.
Manage revisions, updates, and documentation throughout all project stages.
Perform basic quantity take-offs and assist estimating when required.
Communicate with builders, architects, and internal departments to resolve any design issues or queries.

Skills & Experience:

Strong understanding of construction drawings and framing systems.
Experience with drafting or BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or similar.
Experience with Vertex BD will be viewed as a bonus, but it’s not essential – training can be provided.
Solid coordination and time management skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
