About the role:
We are seeking a proactive and people-focused HR Advisor to join our dynamic Human Resources team in Brisbane. This generalist role is pivotal in supporting the entire employee lifecycle—from attraction and recruitment to employee engagement and compliance—while helping foster a positive and high-performing work culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Workplace Safety & Compliance
Champion a safe and respectful workplace by supporting WHS initiatives, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Manage end-to-end recruitment including job ad creation, candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checking, and onboarding of new employees across multiple departments.
Onboarding & Induction
Facilitate seamless new hire onboarding processes including contracts, systems access, hotel orientation, and policy training to ensure a strong start.
Employee Relations & HR Advisory
Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to line managers on performance management, conduct issues, grievances, and interpretation of the Enterprise Agreement.
Training, Development & Recognition
Support implementation of development programs, coordinate mandatory training compliance, and lead employee recognition initiatives (e.g., Red Knight & Star of the Week Awards).
Performance & Succession Management
Assist with performance reviews (30/60 day & annual), maintain development records, and support talent/succession planning in partnership with department heads.
Payroll Coordination
Liaise with Finance to ensure accuracy of employee records, resolve discrepancies, and support system cut-offs and signoffs.
Internal Communications & Culture Initiatives
Provide HR communications, support employee engagement campaigns, and promote internal events aligned with Stamford’s values and culture pillars.
Offboarding & Exit Process
Coordinate employee exits including resignation/termination documentation, final pay instructions, exit interviews, and ensuring return of company property and deactivation of access.
HR Records & Policy Compliance
Maintain secure electronic HR records, ensure compliance with internal policies and employment legislation, and support policy updates and staff awareness campaigns.
Required Skills and Competencies
Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence managers and employees at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to provide practical HR advice, manage employee relations matters, support investigations, performance management, conflict resolution, and maintain procedural fairness.
Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work requirements, Modern Awards, workplace policies, visa compliance, and HR best practices.
Highly organised with strong HR administration, reporting, record management, and HRIS capabilities, while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business, Hospitality Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 to 4 years of HR generalist experience, preferably within hospitality, tourism, retail or a fast-paced operational environment.
Knowledge in Ready workforce system is an advantage
