Lead Complex OT Practice in a Dedicated Geriatric Outreach Team
SALHN is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Clinical Occupational Therapist to join the Division of Rehabilitation, Aged & Palliative Care and the Geriatric Outreach Service (GOS), with a strong focus on supporting GOS services in rural health networks. This full-time contract role is based at the Repat Health Precinct within the SALHN Geriatric Outreach Service, where you will work at an advanced practice level, providing expert geriatric and dementia-specific Occupational Therapy services to support transition to Residential Aged Care Homes, prevent avoidable hospital admissions and build workforce capacity.

About the role:
Reporting to the Director Occupational Therapy, the role will operate across the four pillars of Advanced Practice:
- Expert clinical practice
- Clinical Leadership
- Education and workforce development
- Research translation and quality improvement
The role will include a specialist clinical caseload, advanced clinical triage, consultancy, joint assessments, education, mentoring and service development to support best practice delivery and capability development across Southern Adelaide Local Health Network and to support rural GOS services. The role will act as a SALHN expert in non-pharmacological management of significant complex and changed behaviours as a result of dementia.
About you:
- A degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia,
- Has extensive experience in geriatrics, particularly working with people living with dementia and complex responsive behaviours,
- Demonstrates expert clinical reasoning, autonomy and professional judgement
- Is confident working in consultative, outreach and telehealth models
- Has a strong commitment and passion for person-centred care, safety and quality
- Enjoys mentoring and developing others and contributing to service improvement
- Brings an innovative and collaborative approach to complex clinical and system challenges.
