2027 Infectious Diseases Fellow HM 27 – HM30

About the Role
There are 3 Full Time / Fixed Term 12 month positions available at 86 hrs per fortnight within the Infectious Diseases Department.
The Department of Infectious Diseases (ID) at The Royal Children’s Hospital provides three specialised service streams; Antimicrobial Stewardship, Immunocompromised ID and General ID. Fellows at RCH have the opportunity to rotate through each of these streams and provide an integrated ID service to the hospital.
This role will provide up to three advanced trainee’s in paediatrics with experience and training in Infectious Diseases at a quaternary paediatric referral centre. The Fellow will be an advanced trainee pursuing a career in paediatric infectious diseases or alternatively planning a career in an area of paediatrics in which knowledge and expertise in paediatric infectious disease would be of particular benefit. Depending on seniority and experience, there is the opportunity for the Fellow to work as a Junior Consultant, in a supervised capacity.
Classification for this position will range from HM27 – HM30
What you’ll achieve:
- Being the first point of call for consultations requested across the RCH related to the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases and related issues
- Being the first point of call for provision of the statewide telephone advice service for internal and external enquiries.
- Provide clinical care in the outpatient setting in a supervised capacity
- Participate in antimicrobial stewardship rounds and other AMS activities
- Participate in out-of-hours on call service, under consultant supervision
Your skills and experience
- MBBS or equivalent
- AHPRA registration and eligibility for registration in Victoria
- RACP (or equivalent) exams (clinical and written) completed
- All International Medical Graduate applicants will need to meet the AHPRA English Language requirements
About the Department
Infectious Diseases department provides extensive inpatient and outpatient services in paediatric infectious diseases, including those in the immunocompromised. The department provides 24/7 advice within the RCH, as well as local metropolitan centres, regional hospitals and interstate. Services include telephone advice to doctors throughout Victoria and a significant commitment to training and research
