Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this role is responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the Engineering Department while ensuring the hotel's facilities, equipment, and services are maintained to the highest standards.

About The Role-
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will act as the second-in-charge of the Engineering Department and play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of the hotel's physical assets.
You will supervise the Engineering team, assist in the delivery of preventative and reactive maintenance programs, coordinate contractors, and support capital works and refurbishment projects. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, statutory, and operational requirements.
This is a highly visible role that works closely with all hotel departments, requiring strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills. You will regularly liaise with department managers, contractors, suppliers, and external service providers to ensure maintenance requests and projects are completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to guests.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead from the front, providing technical guidance, coaching team members, and maintaining high standards of workmanship, professionalism, and customer service.
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Engineering team.
Assist the Chief Engineer in managing departmental operations and projects.
Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed in a timely manner.
Perform hands on maintenance and repair work across the hotel as required.
Monitor building services, plant, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational issues.
Assist with contractor management and ensure works are completed safely and to standard.
Support the management of departmental inventory, tools, and equipment.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting.
Assist with after-hours call outs and emergency situations when required.
Promote a positive team culture through coaching, mentoring, and leadership.
Knowledge and Experience
Previous experience in a maintenance supervisory or leading hand role.
Trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Carpentry, or a related field. (highly regarded)
Strong knowledge of building maintenance systems and hotel operations (highly regarded).
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing demands.
Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
Flexibility to work a rotating roster and respond to operational requirements.
Experience in managing large scale CAPEX projects
Experience in administrative processes (e.g. budgeting, performance management)
