Join the Architecture team within Technology Enterprise Services, where you'll work alongside experienced architects and technologists who are shaping the future of A&G's technology landscape. As part of this team, you'll provide thought leadership and expertise across the business, collaborating with analysts in business, technology, and security teams to ensure successful software delivery. You'll play a pivotal role in our cloud-first transformation journey, helping to migrate on-premises systems and develop evolutionary architecture that can adapt to meet business needs in an agile environment. The role
As a Solution Architect, you'll be at the forefront of developing new product platforms at Auto & General, providing architectural guidance and technical strategy that bridges business needs with innovative technology solutions. You'll define technical roadmaps, assess solutions, and lead the evolution from as-is to to-be architecture states.

Ensure alignment of new product development with both business and technical strategy

Lead the migration of on-premises systems to a cloud-first approach

Develop evolutionary architecture that can evolve to meet business needs in an agile environment

Communicate architecture and plans to Directors, development teams, and business partners

Provide internal consulting expertise on aspects of architecture and technical strategy

Ensure development and projects comply with agreed standards and patterns

Document, review and update architecture materials

Assess technical solutions and recommend the best course of action

Build consensus and articulate strategy across various stakeholders

Support APRA compliance and contribute to A&G's regulatory framework

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote a strong risk and compliance culture
What experience you'll bring
-
Demonstrated experience in software product development as an Architect on large complex systems

Proven experience with containerised Java microservice and event-driven architecture patterns

Strong knowledge of AWS features and how best to use them in designing solutions

Experience in migrating on-premises systems to cloud environments

Experience in defining technical roadmaps and architecture to build and deliver new software products

Ability to distil complex business needs and technical change into clear direction

Experience designing solutions that integrate multiple line of business applications

Experience with digital application development for both online customers and internal business users

Cloud-first thinking and evolutionary architecture development approach

First-class interpersonal skills with ability to build consensus and articulate strategy

Insurance or financial services knowledge desirable
Location
This role can be based in any of our South East Queensland offices:
Toowong — Close to a variety of public transport and easy parking options, the Toowong office has excellent end of trip facilities (including secure bike storage and showers), outdoor spaces and plenty of modern collaborative areas to work and connect with colleagues. Conveniently based at Toowong Village tower with views of the mountains and the Brisbane River, our location is only 4 km from the city and provides access to retail, restaurants and other amenities.
North Lakes — Offering convenient access to the Bruce Highway and close to public transport, our North Lakes office features modern collaborative workspaces, end of trip facilities, and a welcoming environment designed for connection and productivity.
