About the role
Due to continued growth, DCC have a newly created role for a Senior People and Culture Business Partner for the Patents Practice Group. Reporting to DCC’s Head of People & Culture, this role partners closely with Patent Attorneys in the Patents Practice providing high-quality HR business partner support throughout the entire employee lifecycle.
It is a commercially focused role responsible for building a high-calibre, future-ready patents workforce in a competitive market. The role is hands-on and fast paced, operating in a supportive close-knit team environment with evolving systems and processes. Success requires strong judgement, comfort with operating in a growth environment, and a genuine appetite for continuous improvement.
- The role spans all aspects of an HR Business Partner role including the performance appraisals process, remuneration reviews, learning and development, recruitment, retention, succession planning and organisational effectiveness.
- You will build a deep understanding of the Patent Practice Group’s commercial priorities, operating model and people risks.
- Support Principals to manage performance and difficult conversations confidently and consistently.
- Act as a trusted advisor on complex and sensitive employee relations matters, balancing risk management with a fair and human approach.
- Champion the firm’s values and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, improve and strengthen People & Culture practices over time.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an HR generalist or HR business partner role.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience in a professional services environment or a matrix organisation is an advantage.
- Commercially astute with strong professional judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Pragmatic problem-solver with strong conflict resolution skills.
- Collaborative, team-oriented and resilient.
