Platform Engineer
Your new team:
Join the Technical Services team within Technology's Technical Infrastructure department, where you'll work alongside specialist engineers delivering critical platform services across on-premise and hybrid cloud environments. This team owns the backbone of A&G's technology infrastructure — from Microsoft, VMware and Citrix platforms to cloud services and security solutions. You'll be supported by a Platform Team Leader and collaborate across infrastructure teams to drive automation, reliability, and performance improvements that help us achieve our 2025 Vision.
The role:
As a Platform Engineer, you'll take ownership of critical technology platforms, driving their performance, stability, and security while championing continuous improvement. This role is perfect for an engineer who thrives on end-to-end ownership and loves solving complex technical challenges.
- Own platform performance, stability, and security, driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency
- Create technical roadmaps, plan projects, and implement improvement opportunities across infrastructure platforms
- Participate in cloud migration processes, evaluating and recommending new technologies to improve performance and reduce costs
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to automate deployment and maintenance processes, ensuring system availability and reliability
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulations
- Provide responsive, specialist technical support to Technology teams as a Subject Matter Expert
- Contribute to building capability in junior staff through knowledge sharing, training, coaching, and mentoring
- Maintain and improve the Infrastructure Technology knowledge base and procedures
What experience you'll bring:
- 4+ years of relevant system engineering, operations, support, or solutions implementation experience
- Advanced system administration, problem solving, and implementation skills across 5 or more of the following: Microsoft (Active Directory, SQL Server, Windows Server), VMware vSphere, NetApp Storage, Citrix DaaS, Google Workspace, Cohesity, Systems Automation/Scripting (Windows), enterprise monitoring suites (SolarWinds, New Relic), Microsoft 365 Administration, Power BI Administration, Security Platforms (CrowdStrike, CyberARK, Okta), Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), SCCM/WSUS, or ITIL 4
- Excellent knowledge of systems security, administration practices, standards, and policies
- Strong stakeholder management and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical solutions to both business and technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple requests and problems simultaneously within prioritised frameworks
- Knowledge of waterfall and agile project management frameworks
- Strong delivery outcomes and customer service focus
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications (Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator/AZ-104, VMware VCP, AWS Solution Architect/SysOps, or security certifications highly regarded)
