We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented Data Quality and Integrity Officers to join the Data Engineering Team within the Cancer Services & Information Division of the Cancer Institute NSW. Part time and job share arrangements will be considered.

About the Opportunity
The Cancer Data Quality and Integrity Officer supports data teams within the Cancer Services and Information division to ensure the quality and integrity of data generated through automated processes, including data extraction from clinical reports and patient record linkage. The role contributes to a key organisational initiative to explore the application of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and machine learning technologies.
You will conduct methodical reviews of unit record data to identify quality issues and work with relevant stakeholders to understand their causes and impacts. This role is well suited to individuals who are confident working with clinical data, patient records, and technology; can collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders; and understand how data is used in population‑level reporting and analysis.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in an information management area such as clinical coding, medical records administration, health information management, health informatics, data management, or other area with a focus on data accuracy or clinical coding.
- Knowledge and understanding of Australian ICD-10-AM coding standards and cancer specific ICD-O3 coding is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of data extraction or reporting tools (such as SQL, R or Python) would be considered desirable.
- Demonstrated experience using computerised patient data bases, electronic medical record and clinical information systems.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking data quality and integrity improvement activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the achievement of team objectives.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and privacy laws and guidelines relevant to health data collections and medical research.
