About the role
Due to continued growth, Contract Resources is seeking experienced and motivated Mechanical Trade Assistants (TAs) to join our WA Workshop team on a permanent full-time basis, supporting the maintenance and readiness of critical assets for major Energy and Resources projects.
Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager, this role will support the inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, and servicing of a range of specialised equipment and assets, including pumps, filter banks, high-pressure blasting equipment, and vacuum trucks. Working closely with the Mechanical Trades team, you will help ensure equipment remains compliant, safe, and operational before mobilisation across projects throughout Australia.
This role also offers opportunities to support regional workshops and project sites across WA, providing valuable exposure to a variety of Energy and Resources operations while contributing to broader team and asset maintenance priorities.
This position is offered on a permanent full time basis and may involve travel to regional and client sites as required.
Duties will include but not limited to
- Assist the Mechanical Trades team to perform routine maintenance, inspection, functional testing and repair on company and client equipment & assets.
- Assist the Mechanical Trades team with routine maintenance, inspections, functional testing, repairs, and servicing of company and client equipment and assets
- Support servicing, repairs, and breakdown maintenance on industrial and heavy vehicles
- Identify or assist in diagnosing mechanical faults and failures
- Conduct basic checks on engines, hydraulics, hoses, pumps, and other mechanical systems
- Operate hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and workshop machinery safely and effectively
- Prepare tools, equipment, and materials for maintenance and repair tasks
- Assist with testing repaired equipment to ensure safe and correct operation
- Move, transport, load, and unload equipment, machinery, parts, and materials as required
- Assist with stock control, stock takes, parts organisation, and reporting damaged tools or low stock levels
- Collect and deliver parts, consumables, and equipment as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment at all times
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, quality standards, and supervisor instructions
- Work effectively within a team environment while demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
Required Licences & Experience Needed:
- 2+ years of proven experience in Workshop, Shutdowns or general maintenance sectors
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within workshop, shutdown, maintenance, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to perform manual handling and lifting duties
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams
- High Risk Work Forklift Licence (essential)
- Current Manual C Class Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Construction White Card (essential)
- Trade qualification or Certificate II in Mechanical Engineering (advantageous but not essential)
- HR or higher Driver’s Licence (advantageous)
- Flange Management Certificate (advantageous)
- Ability to travel to client and Contract Resources facilities as required
