Unaccredited Orthopaedic Registrar
-
12-month contract – Maximum Term Full Time
Owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia's largest and most respected operator of private hospitals, Linacre Private Hospital is an acute 64-bed Surgical and Medical hospital situated in the bayside suburb of Hampton in Victoria.
The Hospital has 4 Operating Theatres and 1 procedure room, a Day Surgery unit, and a 4 bed High Dependency unit. It also offers on-site Radiology and Pathology services, Physiotherapy services and busy specialist consulting suites. About the Role
The role involves a temporary full-time appointment at Linacre Private Hospital and on-call duties at Sandringham District Memorial Hospital, part of Alfred Health. It is designed for applicants who have an interest in becoming an accredited orthopaedic trainee.
About You
Working within our busy Orthopaedic practice, you will gain knowledge and valuable experience in elective orthopaedic surgery, patient care and process. You will work in a busy team environment, with the role encompassing;

Full-time assistant surgery responsibilities for lower and upper limb
-
Ward rounds and regular Xray meetings

Perioperative care including clerking (charting meds, ordering tests, medical certificates, chasing scans, etc.) and patient liaison pre and/or post operatively

Research projects as directed by participating Orthopaedic surgeons

Orthopaedic Clinic at Sandringham Hospital
-
1:3 on call roster at Sandringham.
Sandringham District Memorial Hospital is an 88-bed public hospital with an emergency department and 3 Operating Theatres. The Orthopaedic unit services adult and paediatric trauma as well as elective surgery.
Working in the Sandringham public hospital will encompass;

An on-call roster shared with one accredited trainee and another unaccredited registrar
-
After-hours operating for adult and paediatric emergency cases
-
Ward rounds
-
Once weekly outpatient clinic and unit meetings
-
Teaching activities within the unit
This position suits a junior doctor who has had at least 6 months previous experience in Orthopaedics and is keen to develop a career in this specialty. It will be tailored to meet the individual’s needs in order to prepare for application to the AOA training program.
Essential Criteria

Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery

AHPRA registration

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Demonstrated high level of clinical competence

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Commitment to improvement and excellence in the delivery of health care services.

Successful completion of the Generic Surgical Sciences Exam (GSSE)
Desired Criteria

Previous experience as an orthopaedic registrar.
