About the role
The PMO Project Officer will be responsible for assist fibre service delivery finance activities, including all corporate finance reporting, forecasting, monitor and control the allocated programs' budgets, whilst driving key business outcomes and KPIs. Working within a dynamic, multi stakeholder environment, the role partners with FES Leaders to ensure accurate data, and strong governance. The role also upholds Safety, Quality and Environmental standards and follows established finance management processes and PMO guidelines, with hybrid ways of working with two days in the office. Other duties as assigned to meet business objectives and KPI’s.
What You'll Be Doing
Governance & PMO support
- Apply PMO governance framework, finance management processes, and support frameworks, ensuring consistent delivery standards while contributing to process development and continuous improvement.
- Support project initiation, finance forecasting, reporting, monitoring, controlling, and closure by coordinating scope, budget assessments (including over budget escalation steps), financial reconciliation, lessons learned, and lifecycle documentation in line with PMO requirements.
- Maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and resource plans, and contribute to 5 year long range planning by updating pipeline forecasts, capacity insights, and portfolio level d
- Coordinate procurement activities, raising purchase requisitions/orders, tracking deliveries, working with national inventory teams, validating invoices, and supporting financial monitoring, cost variance identification, and vendor performance tracking.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, delivery partners, procurement, legal, and other support functions to manage dependencies, secure site access, escalate issues, and resolve operational blockers efficiently.
- Identify, log, and manage project risks and issues, support mitigation planning and escalations, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, procurement, legal, contractual, and policy obligations.
- Prepare and maintain high quality project documentation, generate scheduled and ad hoc reporting, maintain accurate data in PMO, procurement, finance, and application systems, and provide basic application support or escalate where required.
- Deliver day to day project administration including stakeholder correspondence, register upkeep, system updates, onboarding coordination for new employees, and general operational support to keep projects running smoothly.
- Lead and deliver multiple PMO initiatives in line with the company Strategic values.
- Proactively manage, validate third party Duct rental claims, Intercarrier monthly invoices, special vendors renewals and ongoing monthly claims.
- Responsible for the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly Finance reports. Identify and highlight key trends and opportunities.
- Assist with several domain reports to the leadership team
- Generate YTD Supplier spend reports to the stakeholders, identify and highlight the trends and opportunities
- Maintain Risks, Opportunities, and Issues Register, actions to mitigate the risks
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years’ experience in Project Officer, PMO Analyst/Officer, Finance Officer, Accounting, Finance controller roles; telecommunications/fibre deployment or civil construction exposure valued.
- Understanding industry guidelines, local regulations, and the ability to interpret/apply organizational policies: Expert
- Organisation and time management skills; able to prioritise, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail: Expert
- Procurement, supplier coordination, and working with carrier, utility, and LGA interfaces: Proficient
- Program delivery finance support; forecasting, monitoring and controlling multiple concurrent program budgets: Proficient
- Finance Reporting and supporting complex delivery solutions: Proficient
- Stakeholder communicator (written and verbal) with strong customer focus and professional conduct: Proficient
- Analytical problem solver able to interpret guidelines/legislation and provide practical solutions; process driven with high compliance and documentation quality: Proficient
- MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with reporting/dashboard capability (Power BI desirable); collaborative yet able to work autonomously
- Effective stakeholder communicator (written and verbal) with strong customer focus and professional conduct.
