About the role

Babcock Australasia is seeking a motivated and detail‑driven Commercial Specialist to support a marine engineering program. This role plays a key part in ensuring strong commercial outcomes, effective risk management, and sound decision‑making across a complex and high‑profile defence program.

You will contribute to program success by supporting governance, compliance and commercial integrity, while helping to improve the policies, processes and systems that underpin efficient program performance.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

Provide specialist support to commercial, subcontracts, procurement and program teams.
Manage customer and supplier interactions, including onboarding and quality checks.
Coordinate pre‑contract reviews, approvals, contract preparation and execution.
Manage contract performance through delivery, verification, acceptance and payment.
Administer amendments, variations, disputes and claims in line with contract requirements.

About You

You will bring a strong commercial mindset, excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently with internal and external stakeholders. You thrive in a fast‑paced environment and enjoy supporting complex programs with structure, clarity and commercial discipline.

To be successful you will bring:

The ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Security Clearance
Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial, legal, subcontracts, procurement or similar roles.
Experience in fast‑paced commercial environments; exposure to Australian Defence contracting highly regarded.
Strong proficiency across the MS Office suite.
Confident verbal and written communication skills.
