About the Clinical Haematology Department & Cancer Research Operations
This role sits within the Clinical Haematology Department, part of Cancer Services at Austin Health, and is based in the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre. The department provides specialist haematology care across inpatient, outpatient and day oncology settings, working closely with the cancer research and clinical trials teams. This position supports the Cancer Research Operations Team, helping coordinate and deliver clinical research activities embedded within routine haematology and cancer care.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of high-quality clinical haematology research by coordinating research activities and, where appropriate, direct clinical care. Working closely with Principal Investigators, clinical teams, research teams and external partners, the role ensures research studies are conducted safely, ethically and in compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, whilst supporting positive patient experience and effective integration of research into routine cancer care.
A regular day will see you:

Coordinating clinical haematology research studies, working closely with Principal Investigators, clinical teams, research teams and external partners

Supporting patient participation in research through screening, assessments, follow-up and education, ensuring care aligns with study protocols and clinical standards

Supporting study start-up activities, including liaising with study sponsors, external partners and the Discovery and Innovation Unit to progress governances, approvals and operational readiness

Managing study documents, data and reporting to meet governance, regulatory and GCP requirements, while contributing to the smooth integrations of research into routine clinical care
About you

A relevant healthcare qualification with experience supporting clinical research in a health setting

Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and meet study deadlines

Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills, enabling effective collaboration with clinicians, researchers, sponsors and external partners

Experience managing research data and documentation, with an understanding of GCP, ethics and regulatory requirements

A proactive, team-focused approach, with the ability to work autonomously, problem-solve and contribute positively to a collaborative research environment
