The Position:

We are looking for a Coding and STEAM Coach to assist us run after-school classes and school holiday programs within

Full training provided with ongoing development opportunities; continuous learning is necessary in this job.
Dedicating regular time for self-learning / ongoing technical skill training is required from our Coaches.

Position Summary:

The Coding & STEAM Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences in coding, Math, and STEAM subjects, ensuring a safe and stimulating learning environment.

This role involves:

1. Class preparation in each shift

2. Active classroom management and support to help develop confidence and skills in our students

3. Efficient management of student learning data and progression reporting, including communication with management, among team members, students and parents including regular progress reports and showcase for parents.

4. Multi-tasking, thinking on your feet and a sense of urgency is necessary for this position

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

Class Preparation

● Prepare lesson plans and materials for each class/camp.

● Set up the classroom to maximize learning opportunities.

● Run supplemental STEAM activities to drive connection and engagement.

Teaching

● Be a positive role model; Use positive language

● Set the tone for students; instil discipline to make them better individuals in the classroom, at school and at home.

● Deliver lessons effectively; proactively help students to gain new skills and clarify doubts

● Review projects with students to ensure comprehension, help with concepts / debugging and ensure real learning occurs.

● Assign appropriate course material to ensure students are suitably challenged and engaged.

Student Engagement

● Encourage active student participation and adapt to different learning styles

● Recognise and reward student achievements

Assessment and Feedback

● Monitor student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.

● Use feedback from students and parents for continual improvement; keep students engaged.

Administrative Duties:

Record-Keeping

Complete timesheets, daily checklists, student learning diaries and project files and reports.

Compliance

Adhere to WWCC requirement, all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Communication

Maintain professional and open lines of communication with management, team members, students, and parents.

Professional Development:

Skill Enhancement

· Complete an educator induction plan and all the required training before commencement and within the first month of commencement.

· Ongoing training is your responsibility as a Coach.

· Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities.

Knowledge Sharing

· Actively research and contribute to new camp and program ideas, design / source learning material ideas as needed.

· Share information, processes and knowledge with management and team.

Skillset and Behaviours Required:

A background in Coding, ideally JS/HTML/CSS, Python / Block Coding (Tertiary qualifications not mandatory) AI tools, 3D Printing, Video Editing.
Experience in, and a keen interest in coaching and teaching children Coding or STEAM subjects
Ability to connect and proactively communicate with parents on their child’s progress and learning.
Be open to direction, supervision, and constructive criticism.
A high degree of professionalism (appearance, outfit, communication, punctuality)
A team player who can lead and establish effective relationships with parents and children.
Understand Computer Science, Maths, and the curriculum. 3D Design and 3D Printing expertise, Video Editing, Digital Marketing is a bonus skillset.
Strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task

Hours of Operation (as a guide):

· School Holiday Hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (flexible 5:30pm)

· After School Classes: Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 7:00pm

· Saturdays: 10:30 am - 1:30pm

Job Type: Casual (hours each week)

· Pay: $25.00 – $35.21 per hour.

o salary is based on the Miscellaneous award, dependant on age of the candidate

· Expected hours: 4 – 8 hours per fortnight to start with

Mandatory Licence Requirement:

· Working with Children Check mandatory for this role

Work Schedule:

Afternoon / Evening shift; based on business needs
Day shift
Weekend availability (Saturday only)

Work Authorisation:

Valid Australian working visa required

Work Location (Candidate should be flexible with all the options):

· In person in the Academy

· A Melbourne-based School

· A Community centre
