About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Building Products Engineer to join our collaborative team of engineering specialists on a 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing as soon as possible.
Reporting to the Building Systems Engineering Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring CSR's building systems and products remain compliant, fit for purpose, and ready for market.
Working across multiple product categories and brands, you'll be involved in developing engineered building system solutions, conducting product testing and assessment programs, supporting technical compliance, and contributing to the development of new products and systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining technical expertise with practical application, working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, testing authorities, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and assess engineered building system solutions incorporating CSR products
- Conduct testing, analysis, assessments, and R&D programs for new and existing products
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including manuals, design guides, certificates, test reports, and compliance documentation
- Ensure products and systems comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards
- Provide technical engineering support for bespoke project solutions and customer requirements
- Contribute subject matter expertise to New Product Development (NPD) projects
- Collaborate with technical, sales, marketing, product development, and field support teams
- Manage relationships with external testing laboratories, consultants, universities, and industry bodies
About You
You are a technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex building system challenges and translating technical requirements into practical solutions. You'll be naturally curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple product categories, stakeholders, and projects.
Ideally, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering (preferred), however we will also consider candidates with qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Process Engineering
- Previous experience in technical compliance, systems engineering, product engineering, testing, or New Product Development (NPD) environments
- Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards
- Experience within building products, construction materials, engineering consultancy, manufacturing, or related sectors
- Exposure to product testing, certification, compliance, and technical documentation
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- A collaborative approach with a genuine interest in building systems, product performance, and innovation
It would be advantageous if you have experience with building products, system certification, fire or structural testing, or developing technical manuals and design guides.
