About the role
Due to continued growth and upcoming project opportunities, Contract Resources is seeking experienced and motivated Industrial Painters / Coating Applicators to join our team supporting a Tier 1 Oil & Gas Operator on an onshore project in WA.
In this field-based role, you will be responsible for surface preparation and the application of protective coating systems at client facilities, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Working closely with supervisors, inspectors, and coating crews, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality coating outcomes across shutdown, maintenance, and project scopes while contributing to a strong safety and team-focused culture on site.
To be considered, you must have proven experience applying industrial protective coatings in oil and gas, mining, refinery, marine, or heavy industrial environments. Trade qualifications in Surface Preparation and Coating Application, Automotive Refinishing Technology, or Painting and Decorating are highly regarded.
This opportunity offers FIFO from Perth, WA, with the project duration currently forecast through to September. There are opportunities to transition into other project teams across Australia upon completion.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Performing surface preparation and industrial coating activities in accordance with project specifications and client requirements
- Applying protective coatings using conventional and airless spray across Oil & Gas and industrial assets
- Conducting abrasive blasting, surface preparation, masking, and coating repairs where required
- Ensuring coating works are completed to the required quality, safety, and productivity standards
- Identifying coating defects or surface issues and escalating concerns to supervisors or inspectors as required
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, inspectors, and project teams to achieve project deliverables
- Assisting with shutdown, maintenance, and project coating scopes across client facilities
- Maintaining equipment, spray guns, hoses, and coating tools in a safe and serviceable condition
- Completing all work in line with HSEQ procedures, site requirements, and client expectations
- Contributing to a positive team culture with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Required Licences & Experience Needed:
- Proven experience in the application of industrial protective coatings within Oil & Gas, mining, marine, refinery, or heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience with surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and industrial coating systems
- Experience working on shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance, or project scopes within heavy industry (highly regarded)
- Trade qualification in Surface Preparation and Coating, Automotive OR Painting (highly regarded)
- Reliable work ethic with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Strong commitment to Work Health & Safety and quality standards
- Ability to work effectively within fast-paced shutdown and project environments
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Working at Heights (within 2 years – essential)
- Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (within 2 years – essential)
- Gas Test Atmospheres (within 2 years – essential)
- Full Australian working rights
- Current Driver’s Licence
