About the Role
Due to continued growth across our operations, Precision Contracting is seeking a qualified and experienced Industrial Painter to join our team full-time. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a diverse range of projects across Perth and remote FIFO locations, including government, mining and infrastructure scopes.
You'll be both hands-on and managing the surface preparation and protective coating application on existing infrastructure, working across industrial and oil & gas environments to project specifications and site safety requirements.
As Precision Contracting is a specialised Rope Access Company it would be a requirement that you obtain your IRATA qualification if you do not currently have this. Preference will be given to existing IRATA Technicians
Key Responsibilities
- Abrasive blasting and painting of steel surfaces to specified standards
- Plant and equipment set-up and operation
- Use of pneumatic tools for mechanical preparation of timber, carbon, and stainless-steel surfaces
- Coatings application via brush, roller, airless and conventional spray methods
- Confined space entries and working at heights as required
- Completion of QA/QC documentation and daily compliance records
- Adherence to site-specific safety and procedural requirements
About You
You're a safety-minded, team-focused professional who takes pride in quality workmanship and contributing to a strong site culture.
- Trade Qualified Painter
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an industrial Painter (Blasting experience highly desirable)
- IRATA Rope Access Qualification Level 1 or 2 (highly desirable)
- Experience in Oil & Gas and Mining environments (highly desirable)
- Proven ability to interpret technical specifications and coating data sheets
- Basic computer skills in Word and Excel for daily reporting
- A practical, hands-on mindset with the confidence to take initiative
Mandatory Requirements
- Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application, trade certificate in painting, with minimum 5 years' proven industrial painting experience
- Demonstrated ability to run painting scopes effectively.
- Advanced problem-solving, planning, and time management skills.
- Commitment to high standards in safety, quality, and performance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and work ethic.
- Physically fit and able to work in remote environments or challenging conditions.
- Right to work in Australia
- Able to meet Offshore medical requirements and pass an Offshore (OEUK) Medical
- Current Police Clearance and ability to pass Drug & Alcohol screening
Highly Desirable Qualifications (or Willing to Obtain)
- IRATA Rope Access Qualification Level 1 or 2 (must obtain)
- Valid Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) for port/wharf access, or approved Job-Ready Application
- Valid Confined Space Entry (within 2 years)
- Valid Working at Heights (within 2 years)
- Current BOSIET or FOET (or willing to obtain)
- Construction White Card
Eligibility
Applicants must hold the legal right to work in Australia at the time of application. Offshore candidates must be able to meet offshore medical and certification requirements.
