The opportunity
CSIRO Publishing is Australia’s leading publisher of scientific, technical and health journals, books and science news. As part of CSIRO, we share trusted science that informs decisions, builds understanding and improves lives.
We are seeking a strategic, audience-focused Marketing Manager to help shape the future of one of Australia’s most respected science publishers. In this influential role, you will lead marketing across journals, books, writer training, science news and digital products.
This hands-on role combines strategy and delivery, with responsibility for increasing discoverability, audience growth, engagement, submissions, sales and brand visibility. As a commercially minded and collaborative leader, you will set direction, deliver results and guide a small team through change while fostering a high-performing culture.

Your high-level duties will include:
- Develop and deliver marketing strategies that grow revenue, audience reach, discoverability and brand visibility.
- Lead multi-channel campaigns across email, newsletters, social media, advertising and other digital channels.
- Use data, customer insights and performance measures to improve campaign effectiveness and inform decision-making.
- Support and grow author, reader and library engagement across journals, books and digital platforms.
- Drive digital transformation, system improvements and marketing automation initiatives.
- Lead and develop a small marketing team in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Location: Melbourne (Clayton) VIC, other CSIRO sites around Australia considered
Salary: AU$118k – AU$127k per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Strong digital marketing skills across content, social media and campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to use data and insights to improve marketing performance.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work across diverse internal and external groups.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work on time.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including coaching, prioritisation and team development.
