Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $77,000 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

Location: 71 Melville Rd, Brunswick West VIC 3055

Postmistress Eatery is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our busy kitchen team in Brunswick West, Victoria. This is a full-time position offering 38 hours per week.

Postmistress Eatery is a well-established Italian restaurant renowned for its authentic cuisine, quality ingredients, and exceptional dining experience. We are committed to delivering outstanding food and service and are looking for a skilled Cook to contribute to our continued success.

Position Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness.
Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
Preparing, cooking and presenting a range of Italian dishes to a consistently high standard.
Seasoning food during preparation and cooking.
Portioning food, plating meals, and preparing accompanying sauces, gravies and garnishes.
Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities and maintaining stock rotation procedures.
Preparing meals to meet dietary and allergy requirements where required.
Assisting with menu planning and estimating food requirements.
Maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with relevant regulations.
Assisting in the supervision and training of kitchen staff and apprentices where required.
Working collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service.

Skills and Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

A relevant qualification equivalent to Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher.
At least one year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
Sound knowledge of modern Italian cooking techniques, ingredients and food presentation.
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
