About the Role
As a Legal Support Administrator, you will provide key assistance with various administrative and legal tasks for our Insurance Law & Litigation Group, one of the most respected insurance law practices in Australia.
This role involves initiating and progressing allocated tasks, document and letter drafting, proof reading and preparation, issuing court subpoenas, liaising with the courts and external stakeholders, managing critical dates, handling disbursement invoices and ensuring timely payments, assisting with data entry and general administration duties.
The group advises clients on matters spanning class actions, interruption of business and property damage claims, construction litigation, directors' and officers' liability, financial services misconduct, public liability and personal injury claims, cyber security breaches, medical negligence, disciplinary claims and regulator investigations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and format legal documents and correspondence
- Proofread and edit documents for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to legal standards
- Monitor and progress allocated tasks independently, following up where required to ensure deadlines are met and escalating issues where appropriate
- Liaise with medical practitioners to request and obtain information for the purposes of issuing subpoenas
- Ensuring court documents are accurately drafted, filed and served in compliance with legal procedures.
- Liaise with courts, subpoenaed parties and external stakeholders via phone and written communication (including emails), drafting relevant documents and following up on outstanding requests in a timely and professional manner
- Provide general administrative support, assist with legal matters, file organisation, document retrieval and accurate data entry
- Assisting to maintain and update team resources, including databases and contact records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
- Support lawyers and senior legal staff with ad hoc tasks as needed
About You
- A genuine interest in building a long-term career in legal administration. Early-stage law students will be considered; however this role is not a pathway into a legal practitioner position
- Proven administrative experience, with strong proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and document management systems
- Excellent communication skills, with high attention to detail, spelling and grammar
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines independently
- A team-focused mindset with a strong commitment to customer service
- A positive, flexible attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills
