About the role
We have an opportunity for a Manager Portfolio Risk & Assurance to be part of our Project Management Office, Technology & Communication Service Command team. The role leads the transformation and continuous improvement of portfolio-level risk and assurance practices across the ICT Portfolio. It strengthens capability across the Command by establishing a centre of excellence and fostering a community of practice. Through collaborative engagement, the role drives a coordinated, and proactive approach to portfolio risk and assurance, supporting strong governance, transparency, and delivery confidence across all programs and projects.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Leads and owns the portfolio-level risk and assurance function across the ICT PMO, providing a single point of accountability for risk and assurance strategy, oversight and continuous improvement across all ICT programs and projects.
- Reports directly to the Director, Project Management Office and operates as an advisor, influencing executive decision-making through clear, timely and actionable portfolio risk and assurance insights.
- Leads the ICT PMO risk and assurance capability, establishing and maturing a consistent, scalable framework that strengthens governance, transparency and delivery confidence across the portfolio.
- Has direct line management responsibility for risk analysts, with accountability for their day-to-day activities, workload prioritisation, performance management, capability development and professional mentoring.
- Ensures the portfolio risk and assurance framework aligns with internal NSW Police Force policies, PMO methodologies, governance standards and internal assurance expectations.
- Ensures portfolio and program compliance with external regulatory, assurance and reporting obligations, including those imposed by external agencies responsible for funding, investment assurance or whole-of-government oversight.
- Proactively identifies, analyses and escalates emerging and systemic risks across the ICT portfolio, including interdependencies and cross-program impacts that may affect funding, benefits realisation or delivery outcomes.
- Works closely with the Investments and Benefits teams to ensure alignment between portfolio risk exposure, investment decisions, benefits realisation, funding assumptions and assurance reporting.
- Communicates risk and assurance outcomes to senior leaders, steering committees, and governance forums, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, understood and appropriately managed at a portfolio level.
