The Royal Hospital for Women is a multi-faceted tertiary referral and teaching hospital, internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading centres for the care of mothers, babies, and women with benign gynaecological and gynae-oncology conditions. Part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), the hospital is co-located with other major facilities on the Randwick Hospitals Campus—one of the State’s most comprehensive health care precincts. Ideally situated between the University of New South Wales and Coogee Beach, The Royal Hospital for Women is just 15 minutes from Sydney’s Central Business District and harbour. The Role

All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees. All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given them and with any reasonable policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers. To provide coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. Provide clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

Selection Criteria:

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification or 3 years clinical experience in the field.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).

Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.

Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information system.

Demonstrated commitment to supporting the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles' within the Neonatal Intensive Care Setting.
