The Opportunity
This is a new senior leadership role to champion and deliver Heritage (Aboriginal, Historical and Built) services across Beca’s markets in Australia, with initial focus regions being NSW, and Victoria. As a senior member of our Planning & Environment section, you will help shape strategy, grow capability across environmental, heritage and social disciplines, and take a key client leadership role for relevant clients. This newly created and fast-growing section is focused on helping our clients create measurable environmental, social and community benefits.
As the technical lead for heritage in the business, you will set best practice archaeological, cultural heritage and stakeholder engagement methods, aligned with national/international standards. As well as providing advice to relevant team members to integrate heritage benefits into project design, impact assessment, and approvals.
A key focus of the role will be in the Energy and Water sectors where you will:-
Develop and nurture positive relationships key energy and water clients and:
Lead account planning and pursuit strategies.
Advise and prepare scopes for clients that address delivery and approvals risks.
Lead bid strategy, value propositions, pricing and pitches to clients.
Build cross-Tasman collaboration with Beca’s New Zealand team for project pursuits and delivery across Australia and the Pacific.
Build discipline tools, templates and training for consistent high-quality delivery.
Provide technical verification and lead the delivery of heritage projects. This includes overseeing project teams, planning and delivery of fieldwork, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring that project goals are met.
Engaging with clients to understand their project requirements, provide expert advice on heritage and archaeological matters, and develop tailored solutions that meet client needs while adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices.
Effective stakeholder engagement with both internal and external stakeholders relevant to the role.
Presenting technical findings and relaying information to non-technical persons, including clients and community.
Well-versed in heritage and archaeological legislation, regulations, and guidelines, and apply this knowledge to assess significance, develop conservation strategies, and mitigate impacts on heritage and archaeological values.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and expertise in heritage and archaeological management and consultancy.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
A degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology or related field
Recognised senior expertise in heritage in Australia. Experience in a consultancy environment and leading heritage matters for major environmental impact assessments (ideally in Energy and/or Water markets)
Knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth heritage legislation and associated regulations and guidelines, with experience in NSW and/or Victoria. Current Victorian accreditation would be desirable.
Demonstrate technical leadership experience, including mentoring, discipline management, project management and team coordination
Interest and experience with client relationship management
Australian Drivers licence (ideally with 4WD experience).
