About the Role
As the Bodyshop Supervisorr, you will play a key role in supporting the Workshop Manager to deliver high standards of workmanship, customer service, and operational efficiency. You’ll oversee day-to-day workshop activities, ensuring technicians, apprentices, and trade assistants are well-supported, productive, and working safely.
Your leadership will help minimise vehicle downtime, maintain Ventura’s strong reputation, and ensure our customers remain at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
Bodyshop Operations & Efficiency
- Supervise and coordinate workshop staff to ensure efficient use of labour.
- Prepare estimates and quotes for internal and external customers.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, timeframes, and customer expectations.
- Review and sign off repair orders, job codes, and workshop documentation.
- Monitor overtime and assist in developing procedures to improve bodyshop efficiency.
- Ensure parts are ordered, stocked, and recorded accurately.
Quality & Safety
- Oversee vehicle inspections and communicate findings to the Workshop Manager or Operations department.
- Ensure workshop equipment is safe and fit for purpose.
- Identify hazards, record incidents/near misses, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure PPE is worn and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Leadership & People Development
- Plan and balance workloads across the workshop team.
- Allocate jobs based on skill levels and operational needs.
- Support training, upskilling, coaching, and mentoring of technicians, apprentices, and trade assistants.
- Step into the Acting Operations Manager role when required.
What Ventura is Looking for:
Technical & System Skills
- Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Cert III in Heavy Vehicle Automotive Body Repair Technology (preferred)
- Competent in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level
- Quick to learn and adapt to new software systems
- Strong mechanical understanding and practical aptitude
- Ability to prepare accurate and timely quotes
Leadership & Operational Skills
- Confident in supervising and supporting bodyshop staff
- Able to balance responsibilities between the bodyshop floor and administrative tasks
- Skilled at prioritising workload to meet daily operational demands
- Effective problem-solver with sound decision making abilities
