## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Automotive Electrician to join our team and play a vital role in the diagnosis, installation, and repair of electrical and electronic systems across a range of motor vehicles. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, a methodical approach to fault-finding, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. ## Key Responsibilities
- Utilise diagnostic and test equipment to accurately locate electrical and electronic faults across a range of vehicle makes and models
- Dismantle, remove, and inspect electrical and electronic assemblies and components, ensuring correct handling and reassembly procedures are followed
- Install and integrate electrical equipment, wiring harnesses, and electronic components into motor vehicles to manufacturer specifications
- Connect and configure power-operated vehicle accessories and equipment to the appropriate power supply, ensuring safe and compliant installation
- Adjust and calibrate engine control systems, ignition timing, and related electronic management systems to optimise vehicle performance
- Test, service, and replace defective components including alternators, generators, voltage regulators, and starter motors
- Diagnose and repair faulty ignition systems and electrical wiring, including tracing shorts, open circuits, and earthing issues
- Replace worn or defective parts such as fuses, lamps, relays, and switches as part of both routine maintenance and breakdown repair
- Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and schematic drawings to carry out repairs and installations accurately
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and vehicle inspection findings in line with workshop procedures
- Liaise with workshop supervisors and service advisors to communicate fault diagnoses, repair timelines, and parts requirements
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations and industry standards
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship or trade qualification in Automotive Electrical Technology or a related field (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent)
- Current and valid Motor Vehicle Repairer's Licence or equivalent state-based licensing as required
- Proven experience working as an Automotive Electrician in a professional workshop or dealership environment
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and scan equipment, including OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software
- Solid understanding of vehicle electrical systems including CAN bus, multiplexing, and modern electronic management systems
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical schematics, and service manuals
- Strong fault-finding and analytical skills with a systematic and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Current driver's licence appropriate to the vehicles serviced
## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hybrid or electric vehicles (EV) and associated high-voltage systems, including relevant HV safety certification
- Familiarity with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration and diagnostics
- Experience working across multiple vehicle categories, including light commercial, heavy vehicle, or fleet applications
- Additional certifications in auto electrical systems, air conditioning, or LPG/CNG conversions
- Previous experience in a dealership environment or with OEM-specific diagnostic platforms
