At Equinix, our Critical Facilities Engineers operate, manage, maintain, and repair critical and non-critical power systems, HVAC, BMS, plumbing, fire control & suppression, and all site services. Our critical facilities specialists also perform all related vendor support in a mission critical environment.
This fast-paced role supports the overall functioning of the data center by focusing on maintaining and improving the facility’s critical infrastructure. This includes all regularly scheduled maintenance and ad hoc repairs/troubleshooting. For this position we are recruiting for a mechanical/HVAC engineer to help balance the team, so strong understanding and ideally recent hands-on service work with chillers, AHU, CRAC will be highly regarded.
This role will be suitable for an individual with positive attitude who is willing to go beyond a job description and a written process to contribute to the success of our data center operations. As the critical facilities engineers work in a highly collaborative environment, a team-first mindset will be crucial in navigating through the workdays.
Key responsibilities:
Completes all maintenance protocols, plans, activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly, and monthly site checks.
May manage and oversee specialist vendors for all major works, planned repairs and maintenance to electrical, and special systems – in particular chillers, AHU, CRAH, CRAC and all HVAC/mechanical systems and equipment
Participate in an on-call roster to act as the first responder for sites’ incidents, managing, resolving, and/or escalating critical issues outside of regular working hours.
Oversee plumbing and fire suppression systems vendor activities.
Qualifications, key skills, and attributes required:
Understanding through practical experience of critical facility operations, with a focus on HVAC/mechanical (Chillers, BMS, AHU, CRAC, CRAH)
