About the Role (your why)
The Senior Solution Advisor is a senior individual contributor responsible for translating complex customer requirements into commercially viable, deliverable managed services solutions. This position is heavily focused on presales activities, with more than 50% of the role being dedicated to solution design, pricing, costing, proposal development, and preparing high-quality responses for complex opportunities.
Working closely with customers, sales teams, and technical specialists, the Senior Solution Advisor gathers and validates requirements, evaluates solution options, and presents recommended approaches to stakeholders. The role requires strong customer engagement skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to communicate complex technical solutions in a clear and compelling manner. This is not a people leadership position. You will work within a team led by a Team Leader and will be expected to operate autonomously, provide technical guidance to peers, and take ownership of solution and proposal deliverables within a team environment.
The role supports a diverse customer base across industries including Health, Transport, Finance, Infrastructure, and Government, ranging from organisations with 150 to 60,000 users. The focus is on developing scalable, secure, supportable, and cost-effective managed services solutions across Datacom's Managed Operations portfolio.
What you'll do
As a Senior Solution Advisor, you will be focused on:
-
Drive hands-on presales solutioning for complex managed services opportunities, from initial qualification and discovery through solution development, costing, approval and proposal submission.
-
Translate customer, commercial and operational requirements into clear, supportable solution designs across Datacom’s managed operations portfolio
-
Build solution cost models and pricing inputs, document assumptions and dependencies, and work through internal commercial and technical approval processes.
-
Prepare high-quality proposal content and supporting artefacts for RFI, RFT, RFQ and RFP responses, including high-level designs, service descriptions, solution narratives and pricing.
-
Coordinate inputs from technical specialists, delivery teams, sales, commercial and other service lines to produce a coherent end-to-end solution and proposal by the required deadline.
-
Participate in customer workshops, discovery sessions and presentations to clarify needs, explain solution choices and support customer confidence in the proposed approach.
-
Review proposed solutions for alignment with Datacom architecture, security, supportability and delivery standards.
-
Investigating and incorporating emerging technologies to provide cost-effective, flexible, and innovative solutions.
-
Ensuring designs are costed, approved, supported, and maintainable, aligning with Datacom frameworks and standards.
-
Providing technical and commercial inputs into service renewals and contract transitions.
-
Share expertise and provide peer guidance to Solution Architects and other contributors without formal people-management accountability.
-
Promoting a health and safety culture that values people and sustainability in line with Datacom policy.
What you'll bring
-
At least seven years of broad IT experience, including substantial experience in solution design or presales for complex managed services or multi-platform environments.
-
Demonstrated success owning presales solution development and proposal deliverables for large or complex technology opportunities.
-
Strong commercial and pricing capability, including solution costing, assumptions, risk, margin awareness and the trade-offs required to create competitive and deliverable services.
-
Ability to produce high-quality architecture and proposal documentation, such as solution overviews, SORs, SOWs, HLDs, service descriptions and proposal responses.
-
Expert-level technical understanding in Infrastructure, Networking, Security and multi-platform IT environments.
-
Advanced knowledge of common vendor infrastructure and solution offerings.
-
Extensive experience with hybrid and public cloud environments, especially Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
-
Strong understanding of project pricing, MSP engagements, and fixed-price vs time-and-materials models.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to turn complex technical material into clear, persuasive proposal content.
-
Strategic planning, research and analytical abilities with a solution-driven mindset.
-
A collaborative, organised and delivery-focused approach, with the ability to manage multiple contributors and deadlines without formal line-management authority.
Nice to have
-
Experience across multiple networking vendors and emerging technologies in communications.
-
Good understanding of AI and automation technologies and desire to expand these skillsets.
-
Familiarity with industry security frameworks and compliance standards.
-

-
Industry certifications across Microsoft, VMware, or Infrastructure domain.
